ChatGPT
ChatGPT desktop connects to UserJot over MCP. You add the remote server in the desktop app, not by editing a local editor config.
ChatGPT on the web works differently. It uses MCP-backed tools from installed plugins and does not take a custom server URL or bearer token in settings.
Use these UserJot values
When ChatGPT asks for your MCP server details, use:
Endpoint: https://api.userjot.com/v1/mcp
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_USERJOT_API_TOKENCreate the token in UserJot under Settings → API Tokens.
Add the server in ChatGPT desktop
Open
Settings, then selectMCP servers.Select
Add server.Enter a name such as
userjot.Choose
Streamable HTTPand paste the UserJot endpoint.Provide bearer-token authentication using your UserJot API token.
Save the server, then select
Restart.
Type /mcp in the composer to confirm the server is connected.
If the Add server form has no auth field, set the same URL in ~/.codex/config.toml with bearer_token_env_var pointing at an environment variable that holds your token. ChatGPT desktop shares that config with Codex.
ChatGPT web
On the web, ChatGPT does not accept a local or remote MCP server configuration. MCP-backed tools come from plugins you install, not from pasting https://api.userjot.com/v1/mcp into settings.
Use ChatGPT desktop when you want UserJot with your own API token.
Notes
Workspace admins may restrict MCP servers or plugins.
Availability can still vary by plan and workspace settings.
Keep your token out of anything you would commit or share.
