Languages
Your workspace has one default language and can offer more. The public board, roadmap, changelog, widget, and help center all read the same list, so you set it in one place.
Add a language
Open Settings in your workspace, then go to Languages.
Select Add language and choose a language.
The change applies immediately, so there is no separate save step.
Change the default language
Open the menu on a language's row and select Make default. The old default stays in the list.
If you have a help center, take the language live first. The default is the language every help center article falls back to, so it has to be one readers can already see.
Remove a language
Open the menu on a language's row, select Remove, and confirm. UserJot unpublishes the help center articles published in that language and deletes its translated help center and collection names. Article drafts and revisions stay. You can't remove the default language, or a language a help center article was written in.
One language or several
With one language, every visitor gets that language wherever UserJot has a translation for it.
With several, nothing is locked. UserJot picks each visitor's language from their browser, and signed-in users can change it from their account menu on the public page.
What the board and widget show
The public board and the widget come with a set of built-in translations. When your workspace offers one language they have, they show it to everyone, unless your site passes a locale to uj.init or uj.setLocale, which the widget follows instead. See Changing the language. When your workspace offers a language they don't have, or several languages, they pick each visitor's language among the translations they have or fall back to English, so they may show a language you didn't add.
The widget is available in Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.
Languages in the help center
When your workspace has a help center, adding a language also asks who keeps it up to date there. Choose one of these:
Translated by AI: UserJot translates every published article and the help center and collection names right away. After that, each change you publish is translated and goes live by itself, unless someone edited that translation by hand, in which case it waits for you to publish it.
Translated by AI, reviewed by you: the same translations, but each one waits as a draft until you publish it.
Written by your team: nothing is translated. Your team writes each article in that language and publishes it. Switch the article list to that language to see the articles not written yet and the ones whose original changed since.
Readers see a new language once you select Go live on its row in Settings → Languages. The same row changes who keeps the language up to date, and its menu edits the help center's name and intro in that language.
